Blake - 8 Months!

Goodness, month 7 flew by! You are 8 months old now! The learning curve is so steep the first year...I feel like you are becoming less baby-ish though still a baby. We are definitely far away from the laid back newborn days and into a new curious, grabby, squirmy stage!

Memories from the first half of Month 8:
-You are sitting up on your own! You officially sat up on your own (for an extended period) for the first time on Halloween!

-Speaking of Halloween, you were an adorable elephant! It was a nasty, rainy Halloween but we took you to the trunk-or-treat at church (it was moved inside) and over to Grandpa and Grandma's to show you off.

-Because you can sit up now, you rode in the cart at Target up front like a big boy for the first time! You loved it for about a half an hour and then you got tired.

-You also sat in a high chair for the first time at a restaurant. You're getting too big!!!!

-We've begun feeding you lunch. Previously you were eating cereal mixed with fruit for breakfast and a vegetable and fruit for dinner. Now you have cereal and fruit for breakfast, fruit for lunch, and a veggie with either fruit, meat, or crackers for dinner.
-You can say "Da da"! Well really it's "da da da da da" but we take it! You also don't really know that you're referring to dad, but don't tell him that. ;)
-One of the reasons I believe you said "Da da" first is because of the book, "Your Baby's first word will be Da Da", which, as previously stated in Month 7, is still your favorite book.
-I tried to give you a sippy cup but you mistook it for a toy--a rather fun chew toy. ;) We'll break it out of the cupboard again in a little bit and try again.
Memories from the second half of month 8:
-You love to yank your bibs off when we're feeding you. We think you understand that it's naughty too...little stinker! (So mommy bought some with snaps--touché)
-You are trying to crawl! You get on your hands and knees, rock back-and-forth, and sometimes go backwards, but, you're still trying to figure out how to move forward.

-When you get frustrated or mad you squish your face up and huff and puff. It's sorta hilarious!
-You get pretty mad when mommy or daddy leaves the room. You don't have any separation anxiety when we leave you in daycare or nursery...but if we walk out to use the bathroom while you're bouncing in your exersaucer, well that's just not cool.
-You got a second ear infection in you right ear. :( Poor guy.
-You can hold your bottle by yourself now.

-We picked up your playmat. sniff sniff
-As for your stats, I would guess you weigh about 18 pounds now (no Dr. appt. this month). You are in size 3 diapers still and 9 month/6-9/6-12 month clothes, depending on the store. Why can't all stores use the same baby sizes?

Here's some pictures from the past month:
Reading a postcard from Grandpa and Grandma
Wearing Daddy's sweater that his Oma knit for him when he was a baby
"I just want to see the TV!"
Grandma came to stay for a couple days!
Getting grandpa
...and his hat
(I promise I folded that laundry) ;)

We love you soooo much buddy!
