And The House We Picked Was.....

House #3  :)

The Cute and Cozy house!
We are SO excited that we got this house!  It is perfect for us!  We are going to have an inspector come look at it on Saturday morning.  Both of our dads will be their too.  We can back out of the offer if the inspection does not go well, but I really hope that does not happen!  This is a 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom home with a nice big backyard and a new kitchen!  We are getting ALL of the appliances (yay!).  The neighborhood is also super cute.  I cannot get over our neighbor's flower boxes.  I told Brandon I'm going to march right over and ask them where they got them!  Haha!  Unfortunately we cannot move in until the beginning of August.  The current homeowners are still looking for a new house and want some extra time to pack up.  Our parents are also very excited for us.....I think mostly because they finally get to give us EVERY box we've ever left behind in their houses.  :)

Thank you for all of your nice and encouraging comments!  We are glad everyone is excited with us!

House Hunters: Round 3

Last Friday, Steve took Brandon and me out to look at four more homes.  Surprisingly, we were all available on the Friday of Memorial Day weekend, which was great!

Here are the pictures:

House #1
I did not like this house online, but I knew Brandon would like the backyard...so we took a look anyways.
The room on the left there was formerly a single stall attached garage.  Now they have a new 2 stall detached garage.
That big yard I was talking about :)
I saw this hole in the back...it was the entrance to the "crawl space."  There was no basement :(
We had to use the camera's flash to see what was underneath.  Water=Not Good
The former garage
The kitchen/dining room.  It looks decent, but the cupboards were very hard to open...too much paint or something.
The massive living room
Eww
So, this house was out.  It was in my girly words "pretty nasty".

House #2
I tell Steve he's not in my pictures...so ignore him and just look at the house!  Haha!
The living room and my husband  :)  Their house wasn't really my style, but the layout was great and that's what matters!
I titled this the "Jesus Wall"!  lol
The kitchen - definitely needed some updated hardware!
HAHAHA!!!  If I move here, I'm keeping this.
I had to capture the other side of this room!
Comparatively boring master bedroom :)
Small finished room in the basement...reeked of cat pee. :(
The rest of the basement :)
This house was pretty good.  It was in our price range, in a nice area, with a nice layout.  The downside was the neighbors.  The whole time we were there, which totaled less than 20 minutes, two or three neighbor dogs were barking (nonstop) and there were a ton of screaming kids!  Ahhh!

House #3
Pretty :)
This was the porch/bonus room.
Nice half bath off of the entry porch room.  Love!
Dining Room/Kitchen - I LOVE big baseboards!  :)
Other side of kitchen....sorry about the blur
Cozy living room
Original front door!  The staircase behind me was BEAUTIFUL, but my camera battery died and I changed it when I went upstairs and totally forgot to get a picture of the stairs!!!
I loved the ceiling on this porch!
Half of the big upstairs bathroom
One of three upstairs bedrooms.  We would use this one as the master.
The roof needed repair.
The basement...more tolerable than some we've been in, but not my favorite.
We loved this house, it had a nice yard and lots of room.  It also had some projects for Brandon.  The downside of the house was the remodeling was not done very well in every area and the street was a little run down, even though it's in a good town.

House #4
So cute!
Nice deep backyard
They added a nice 3 season room...but it's a little weird that it has plastic in the windows where you would think screens should be.
The basement is big, I just took a picture randomly!
One side of the living room...so cute!
The other side - love the character on the ceiling!
Main floor bedroom/den with original hardwood floors.
Bathroom - small, but nice
Master bedroom upstairs - The ceiling is so low we thought the fan was going to take our heads off!
The cute nursery!
Don't get any ideas everybody...haha!
I liked her decorating in the stairwell :)
Dining Room
Saved the best for last again!  The kitchen!!!
This house was also awesome!  We loved pretty much all of it.  There would be a few small projects again and we'd definitely have to get rid of the cat smell!

~

Well, we had all of Memorial Day weekend to think over all of the homes we've seen and guess what!?  We put an offer on one yesterday after a second walk-through.  AND, we got it!  We got a call while we were sitting on the couch watching "Rocket Man" (awesome movie by the way!).  I'll give you some more details later...but in true "House Hunters" fashion, I will give you our top three and let you guess which one we picked! :)

House Hunters: Round Two

Here are the pictures I promised from our second round of looking:

The first house we saw was an old farm house.
The kitchen was big, but I hated that window and the ceiling was sagging.
The nice big dining area.  I loved the decorating in this house!
The living room...and my brother :)
Main floor master bedroom
Cutest nursery ever!!!  Original walls and floor!
I just loved this!
The other nursery...they have twins :)
The yucky basement...I'm a pretty picky basement person :)
Overall, this house was ruled out.  It just wasn't our style and it was a bit too old for our taste.  It probably would have required more projects than we want to take on.

On to house number two...move-in ready!

I finally started taking pictures of the outside for you all to see!
Awesome living room!!!  This house was ALL redone!
I forgot to take a picture of the full kitchen, but it was very, VERY tiny.  I liked the new appliances, but I hate not having counter space next to the stove.
Cool closet with space above the stairs that go downstairs...if that makes sense, haha!
Master Bedroom
Bathroom, nice but narrow.  It was hard for Brandon and I to both stand in there.
The view out back...local school's football field!  We kind of liked that...free front row seats!
Without exception, favorite basement we've seen so far!
I LOVED that there was a full, legal bedroom in the basement and a bathroom too!!!
This house was wonderful!  But, as I often see on House Hunters, location was a concern.  This home is right near where we currently live.  There is nothing wrong with the area, but we are sick of driving a half an hour to do most of the things we want to do with family, friends, and church!  And also, this house is at the tippy top of our price range.  Not completely ruling it out, but it's very likely that this is not our future home.

I forgot to take a picture of house #3...whoops.

This house was a tri-level...or as I see it, a maze of stairs.  Big negative in my book.
Nice big living room with original wood floors!
Laundry was in the breezeway

Stairs up into the master bedroom...I would fall on my face every morning guaranteed.
Nice size bathroom!  A big positive!
Basement half #1...love the built-ins
Basement half #2....midget land
Hahaha!!!  This house was so weird!
So this house was actually our 2nd place house that I mentioned in my last post.  It needed some updating, but it was the most bang for the buck in this area.  Our realtor said while we were walking through that this house would be sold in a day, it was sold the next morning.  Crazy!

~

This next house is the one we put an offer on.....but did not get :(

The living room was actually a decent size...but their couch was HUGE!
This kitchen had a major lack of storage space....but I still loved it so much!
The dining room, they liked big furniture!
The main floor bedroom/den
Main floor bathroom
Upstairs master was big and had TWO closets!!!
Random, but nice little storage area upstairs
Upstairs bathroom
This was listed as a four bedroom house, but we would have used this room as storage
Downstairs laundry
This was the house of the night!  We had in offer in the next day, but we were outbid.  It was sad to lose.  Even though we had only just "met", we loved this house.

Tonight we are going out to see a third round of homes.  I'm still excited, but feeling a little more pressure.  If we want to make an offer on a good house we have learned it has to be a quick decision or the house will be gone.  That has been hard for us as we are people who like to think things over.....for a long time.  :)  So please pray that if we do find a house we love, that we would be wise in our decision making!  Have a happy Memorial Day weekend!!!
