Kennedy - 9 Months

Miss Sweet-face you are 9 months old!

9 Month Doctor Stats:
Weight: 18 lbs, 2.5 oz (50th percentile)
Height/Length: 29.75 inches (99th percentile!!!)
Head Circumference: 17.75 inches (83rd percentile)
You gave the nurse a look of pure death after she gave you your shots!

Memories from the first half of month 9:
-You've gotten really good at sitting up! You play sitting up now more than laying down.

-You LOVE Blake! He always makes you smile. You are so curious about all of his toys and you're always twisting your head to watch him because you want to know what he's doing.
-I call you a stinker a lot because you are so inherently stubborn. You make it very clear what you want or don't want. If you don't want to eat something, you REFUSE to open your mouth. If you want to see something while we're holding you, you literally throw your body around until we re-position you so you can see. It's actually quite amusing...for now. ;)
-You started saying "Mama". First words. Melt. my. heart. (Okay, you don't totally 100% use it in context, but still)
-You hate being left alone in rooms. Miss Carol at daycare said you cry every time she walks out of your sight. At home, you always fuss if we leave you in the exersaucer (living room) while we're in the kitchen or dining room. You like to be able to see us.
-You're big enough now to be carried on my back in the Onya. You love it! I was nervous because you didn't really like being carried in front (because you couldn't see what was going on) but you seem to be very content on my back.
-You absolutely love looking at books. Your favorites are the ones with touchy feely things and the "Indestuctibles" that you can chew.
-You also love stuffed animals. Blake never really cared much about them but you get such a big smile on your face!
-You love chewing and gumming on anything you can get your hands on.

Memories from the second half of month 9:
-You got your first fever (which is actually surprising to me considering how long you've been in daycare) but the doctor said it was just that, a fever. There were no other symptoms; we didn't see any new teeth and you were not puking, congested, or having a runny nose.
-You are constantly bouncing! You just can't get enough of bouncing in the exersaucer, johnny jumper, etc. In high chairs (ours, daycare, grandma's, restaurants, etc.) we have to watch you because you start rocking it and literally have gotten the legs off the floor. We do NOT want you tipping your high chair over, crazy kid!! It also makes it hard to aim for your mouth with your spoon when your "dancing". Daddy got you in the forehead and mommy got you in the eye. (facepalm)
-You still nurse 4x a day and eat baby food 3x a day.
-You take two 1-2 hour naps a day and sleep through the night. You would probably take a 3rd nap if it didn't coincide with "daycare pick-up and getting home after work" time. ;)
-You rip your winter hat off your head in .2 seconds of mommy turning away.
-Normally you will wear your bows unless your hands realize there is something up there to play with.
-I'm including Halloween on this post because I just do one month's pictures together. You were an elephant but mommy failed to realize you were too long for your costume....so your arms stayed out, haha! You were still a pretty cute elephant! You stayed warm inside while Blake went trick or treating.

Hi there

Where's Kennedy?

-You are wearing 9-12 month clothes, mostly for length. 6 month shirts still fit. Some 9 month pants are too short. But on average, you're in 9-12 month.
-You belly laugh when Blake interacts with you and when he says "tickle tickle tickle" in a high pitch (and he's not even tickling you).
-At the very end of this month you got your two top teeth, about a week apart from each other. First one came in Oct. 24 and the second one Oct. 31.
-You've started eating the baby rice rusks occasionally in your high chair. You also eat some of our dinner sometimes. We watch you closely, you've choked a few times. You absolutely HATE the "Lil Bits" baby food in the Chicken Noodle flavor (we think it's the texture of the noodles you don't like) but you don't mind the other kinds. You also seem to like veggies more than fruits (who ARE you?!).
-You do not crawl, nor have you shown any interest in learning, but you do stand while holding on to things! You're still incredibly wobbly but you managed to stand for one of your 9 month pictures and it's adorable! Here are a few of your 9 month pictures:

We love you girl! Here are a few pictures from the last month:

Kennedy - 8 Months

Baby girl, time is flying! You are 8 months old!

Outtakes

Blake loves you!
This month has had it's fair share of developments and fun!

Memories from the first half of month 8:
-On September 6, 2018 you sat up unassisted for the first time (for more than just a couple of seconds)! You are still pretty wobbly and should have pillows around you but you officially can sit up. Yay!

First time mommy saw you sit up for more than a few seconds!
-It's only a matter of time before you try to crawl or scoot. You want your brother's toys. The friendship you two have might be tested in the near future. Hmmmm. ;)
-You smile for everyone you recognize. Faces not so familiar get a more serious stare. You do smile a lot at home though!
-You popped through your first two teeth (bottom middles) at the same time! I would put the official date at 9/8/18 because you didn't feel very good that day while they were coming through. I was surprised because Blake didn't get any teeth until 13 months! But, you are your own little person and I guess you're going to teeth earlier and that's okay.
-While you were teething you did not each much baby food. You wanted nothing to do with it. You nursed fine.
-You have adjusted better to daycare. You are very tired after I pick you up though; you usually fall asleep on the couch while I'm snuggling you.
-You LOVE the "Indestructible" books for babies. You also love empty water bottles, so crinkly!
-Both Grandma and Miss Carol have said how much you love being outside during the day. You must take after daddy. :) It's true though, you smile the second we go outside. Winter might be rough on you...or we'll find you a poofy little snowsuit.
-You prefer sleeping on your stomach currently. It seems to change every month.
I'm not sure why I took this picture, but I have it ;)
-You seem to be a momma's girl. You like to be near me. I love it when I hold you and you press your cheek into mine. Melts my heart.

Memories from the second half of month 8:
-You are sitting up without any issue! I think you're ready for high chairs at restaurants; goodbye slings!
-I think that you might be getting just a slight touch of your first cold or maybe it's just allergies.
-You have such a serious look sometimes. Grandmas said when she took you to the mall a bunch of men were trying to get you to smile and you just maintained your grump face. Ha!
-You love nursing to sleep at night. Sometimes you wake up when I bring you up to your crib. I don't really remember nursing Blake to sleep after 6 months (maybe I did....I can't remember anything #mombrain). I love the snuggle time but hope it doesn't become a hard habit to break.
-You've been refusing to eat your baby food for supper quite a few nights out of the week. You eat your breakfast and lunch at daycare no problem. However, you will eat our table food if we offer it. I think you would prefer that...but mom's not ready for that mess yet.
-Daddy always comments on your "drunk" smiles after you finish nursing. It's cute. :)
-You're getting pretty good at grabbing small items with your fingers.
-You ate your first puff, literally one, because mom is still worried you'll choke on it. You've also had a few apple flavored rice rusks. The first time you loved it and made a big sticky mess. The second time you just kept throwing it on the floor and wouldn't eat it. Verdict's still out on those I guess.
-Your stocking arrived from Pottery Barn Kids! Christmas here we come! #priorities
-You have 3 awesome Halloween outfits. Mom apparently can't remember that you already have Halloween clothes because she keeps buying more! Haha!
-Speaking of Halloween, we're not quite sure what your costume will be. You might wear brother's elephant costume (it is gender neutral) or you might be a black cat. Grandma would HATE that...but it'd be so cute. ;)
-Everything goes into your mouth! Blankets, toys, the TV remote if you can get it, brother's stuffed animals, your shirt, EVERYTHING!
-You still don't take a pacifier. We gave up a long time ago. The only time I wish you would take one is at church. I want to keep you in the service with us, and I usually do through the first half, but you jabber so loudly I have to take you out during the sermon. Oh well. :)
-Towards the end of this month you started saying "Mama". I'm not putting it in the baby book yet because it's not really intentional, more a mimic, but I still love it!

Apparently I have been more busy than I realized with work and school because I think this is a record LOW for the number of pictures I have of you this month!

Kennedy - 6/7 Months!

Miss Kennedy Leigh you are SEVEN months old! I have to combine months 6 and 7 into one post because my laptop was at the repair store for a few weeks. And, since I don't remember the definite split between what happened in month 6 versus month 7, we will just do one big post on both!

7 months

Always putting things in your mouth!

6 months

Memories from months 6&7:
-You went to the doctor for your 6 month check-up. All looked good and these were your stats:
Weight: 16 pounds, 13 ounces (62nd percentile)
Length: 27.25 inches (the nurse seemed amused by how long you are, ha! 92nd percentile)
Head Circumference: 17.25 inches (88th percentile)
-You started baby food at a little over 6 months of age. Your first food, green beans, was not your favorite, however, you've liked everything else. Now, at 7 months, you have ventured into the mixed food purees and you don't mind the green beans. Your favorites are definitely sweet potatoes, butternut squash and bananas. Here's a few pictures I took of those first green beans:

-Around 6.5 months we dropped to 4 nursing sessions a day (AM, lunch, late afternoon, bedtime) and 3 meals. This way you only need 1 bottle while I'm at work. So far it's worked well. Sometimes I'll nurse you one extra time on weekends.
-I think I mentioned this in my last post but you can roll over both ways. By 7 months you were rolling onto your belly immediately when we laid you down on the floor or play mat.
-You are incredibly curious (nosy even) about everything going on around you. You arch your neck, even strapped into your car seat, so that you can see whatever it is you want to look at. If lying on your back, like on the changing table, you will lift up your head and shoulders to look around. You must have some amazing core strength!
-You make a fabulous dolphin sound effect ALL THE TIME by buzzing your lips and making high pitched melodies. It's hysterical and makes all of us laugh.
-You also have a very serious face when you are focused or hungry.
-You cry so rarely that I can't remember the last time you really cried (knock on wood). You do fuss when you're hungry or want out of your car seat, exersaucer, etc.
-When you started daycare you refused to take a bottle from Miss Carol. You would cry/scream for up to 45 minutes she said. Mommy felt so bad. Luckily by week 2 you took it from her. You used to not drink for grandma either. You would take the bottle but not actually drink anything until I gave it to you (because we were usually out together). Hopefully you continue to be comfortable drinking your milk with other people....we still have grandma's backup sitter, Miss Sue, to get used to.
-At 6 months you took 2 big trips and did pretty well overall! We are training you young to be a professional shopper. Toronto was HOT but you survived with your stroller fan. That was a great purchase! Occasionally you got overtired and we had to coax you to sleep but for the most part you were a happy camper.

Ready for the Toronto Zoo!

Niagara Falls!
-You and Blake are best friends! Instead of "Girl" he has moved on to calling you "Cutie" and it's adorable. He keeps you very entertained when you are in your car seat, high chair, etc. He loves you so much and you ALWAYS have a smile and a squeal for him. <3

-You don't make the barbaric sounds anymore...it's back to squeals and GIGGLES! You don't often laugh at things....you just giggle to yourself randomly (or at Blake). It's pretty funny actually. Like in the car we'll just hear you work up into a fit of giggles at absolutely nothing, at least as far as we can tell!
-You are so close to sitting up but not there quite yet.
-Just a few days before 7 months we moved you up to size 3 disposable diapers (that we still use at nighttime).
